Shine — a European fintech serving 450,000+ small businesses — is building its own core banking system from the ground up: TypeScript services on Fastify, PostgreSQL, CQRS + event sourcing with domain events on Google Cloud Pub/Sub, deployed on Cloud Run.

In the Account / Ledger team I design and build the ledger itself: immutable double-entry ledger entries with booked balances per leg, account-to-account transfers, and folding a legacy ledger service into the account service so balances have one source of truth.

Also built the canonical transactions stream — normalising account and wire-transfer domain events into projected transactions for compliance, customer-facing and back-office consumers, published through an ordered outbox with stale-lock recovery.

Unit, integration and end-to-end tests on every PR; tracing and monitoring through Datadog.

Designing the target architecture and standing up managed Azure services — Container Apps for C# services, managed Postgres, storage accounts for files.

Self-hosted Keycloak with PKCE / OIDC for auth; Azure Service Bus for integration events between services.

All infra declared with .NET Aspire so the full stack spins up locally during development. Logging, tracing and alerting wired through built-in Azure.

Built a Claude review integration for GitHub PRs. Extensive unit + integration tests on every PR — more important than ever in the AI coding era.

Owned the technical foundation and direction — kept the platform and codebase healthy so the team could ship high-quality features.

Worked closely with the PO on backlog shape and priority, and with adjacent teams to surface dependencies before they became deadline risks.

Hybrid architecture: users interact with on-prem systems, but as much logic as possible runs in a microservice backend on Azure.

Full-stack squad in the Spotify-model setup — frontend, backend, UX, data science and a PO.

Deepened AWS and microservice skills at production scale, shipping primarily in Go with Jenkins CI/CD.

Highlight project: integrating a new core banking platform — accounts, overdraft calculations, postings — to replace the legacy BEC system.

Multiple Unity projects building connected toys, then a project designing a custom language + runtime to execute games on a toy microcontroller.
